
The Western North Regional Police Command has arrested a notorious suspect believed to be involved in a violent armed robbery attack on a mining site at Sefwi Antobia in the Juaboso District.
The suspect, Victor Biney, popularly known as Abeiku, was picked up on Monday, 17th November 2025. He has been on the police wanted list for his alleged role in multiple robbery cases across the region.
How the Attack Happened
According to police reports, seven masked men armed with pump-action and single-barrel guns invaded a mining concession near Sefwi Antobia.
The assailants assaulted miners with cutlasses and bolted with quantities of gold concentrate, several mobile phones, and other valuables.

Witnesses told the police that three of the attackers wore distinctive smocks,with one adorned with talismans, while another wore a military-style shirt, details that later became crucial to the investigation.
Items Retrieved at the Suspect’s Shrine
A search conducted at Biney’s shrine at Attakrom led to the discovery of several items believed to be connected to the robbery, including:
Military camouflage shirt, Pair of handcuffs, two cutlasses, single-barreled gun, Multiple flashlights, seventeen AAA live cartridges, Several smocks, Mercury, Particles of gold concentrate, Pump-action gun butt and other suspected robbery tools
Police say the suspect admitted ownership of many of the items upon his arrest.

Victims Identify Stolen Items
The miners who were attacked visited the police station and identified some of the recovered items, including flashlights, mercury, gold concentrate, and three of the smocks, as items taken from them during the robbery.
They also confirmed that the military shirt and some smocks matched what the attackers wore on the day of the incident.

Court Appearance
Victor Biney was arraigned before the Juaboso District Court on 17th November 2025. The court remanded him into police custody and directed that he reappear on 8th December 2025.
Manhunt for Accomplices
The Police Command says a manhunt is underway to track down the remaining accomplices who are currently on the run. The public has been urged to provide any information that may assist in their arrest.
